As part of the ongoing digitalization transformation a commonality is insights through data. You will be working with data analytics, scripting/programming, connectivity, digitalization, decarbonization, service automation, energy efficiency, logistics optimization, performance management and AIS studies.

Shipping Advisory heavily utilizes the Automatic Identification System (AIS) of positional tracking of ships, using transponders and satellites to provide data on ship position, along with course, speed and other attributes. AIS is an important spatiotemporal data source we often combine with other data sources, such as weather and ship-data. This information is a crucial part of most projects executed in Shipping Advisory.

Frequently performed data analytics tasks include:

  • Data clustering in space and time
  • Combining of data sources, either spatiotemporal data or static data
  • Creating interactive dashboards for data visualisation, analysis and export
  • Developing miscellaneous statistical functionality for data insight, including:
    • Classical statistical methods
    • Modern analytics, including machine learning to detect patterns or anomalies in big data
  • Creating innovative and attractive visualisations of data
    • Often geographical data using GIS software
